|Yearning ballad Missing you is the first single from transcendental Melbourne songwriter Laura Jean’s forthcoming third album A fool who’ll. You can grab a free download of the track from the Chapter Music Facebook here – as long as you’re a fan of the page!
Laura is following up the acclaimed, folk-flavoured Our Swan Song(2006) and Eden Land (2008) with a very different sound, picking up a Gibson SG and going electric.
The album was recorded in Melbourne with Simon Grounds (Teeth & Tongue, Kes Band, God), mixed by Canadian Darryl Neudorf (Neko Case, New Pornographers), and mastered by Peter J. Moore (Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Cowboy Junkies).
Her band is the Laura Jean Trio, featuring longtime collaborators Biddy Connor (viola, piano accordion, keyboard and vocals) and Jen Sholakis (drums, guitars and vocals). Guests spots on the upcoming album include a duet on Spring with Paddy Mann, aka folk eccentric Grand Salvo, and the gorgeous harmonies of My song, sung with Magic Silver White’s Jojo Petrina and Monica Sonand.
A fool who’ll will be released by Chapter Music on 3 September, 2011.
